On the basis of the different definitions of geodiversity found in literature and by introducing the concept of geomorphodiversity, the geomorphological characteristics of the Dolomites are illustrated. Both the spectacular geomorphological aspects and the morphostructural and morphoclimatic ones are taken into account, at different reference scales. Furthermore, some recent ma ss wasting phenomena linked to fossil permafrost thaw are briefly illustrated.
