In the second half of the ’400, thanks to the advancement of the medical literature, there are various compilations devoted to personal hygiene, and these are growing in the Renaissance, during which Italy became the center of elegance. Is it not known to most people, but in Ferrara in ’500, laying the foundation of modern cosmetics, under the impulse of a court woman enlightened and educated: Lucrezia Borgia. Dashed as a “femme fatale”, however, was educated woman passionate for gardening, which under the guidance of mentors such as the University of Ferrara Academic Michele Savonarola, practiced the cultivation of flowers and herbs, which cleverly changed into perfumed powders, ointments and cosmetics.
