Facing the form of the contemporary city among a few exemples which include both the architects and the public administrations allows to focus on new tools aiming to a higher quality of the housing process. The construction of the public space includes complexity of design, management and planning on different levels, proving that just an effective legal frame work is able to achieve the goals of a sustainable urban growth. In contemporary city and, in particular, in resitedital areas, public space become the space to develop social and cultural activities. It becomes the main service to support the society and, consequenlty, the first step toward a walfare policy which does not include financial tools. On the contrary, it approaches the mood of sharing that has always been garanteed in the historical city
