Abstract

Increasing demand for ubiquitous internet access, coming from both end users and politic entities, pushes towards the development of new cheap solutions for widespread wireless access. In this paper, a solution for bringing wireless mobile access on local trains is considered, and the project procedure is structured. In particular, the project constraints and key decision points are analysed, and the choice criteria and methodology are detailed. Finally, tests are performed considering a solution prototype, both as input to the decision process, and to evaluate the final system performance.
