The corrosion and tribocorrosion behaviour of Si3N4/35vol%TiN composite was stud-ied in pH 7.4 and pH 4.0 PBS solutions. Under loads in the range 3-30 N and con-stant sliding rate, the Rp values were about 2 orders of magnitude lower than those recorded under free corrosion conditions, where icor values as low as 0.1-0.3 µA cm-2 were obtained. The wear corrosion process was investigated by SEM-EDS and the wear rates were evaluated by a 3D optical profiler.
