Organismi edilizi dismessi riacquistano il diritto ad un nuovo ciclo di vita utile grazie ad operazioni di recupero, condotte non a livelli di compiutezza, ma piene di un’espressività suggestiva, di una particolare interpretazione della conservazione della memoria, di confronto fra antiche e nuove destinazioni d’uso. Il tutto con limitate risorse economiche. Solo il tempo giudicherà se si tratta di soluzioni definitive o interlocutorie. INGLESE: Many disused building complexes, especially industrial facilities, are now being refurbished and given new programs and functions to extend their life and restore their construction identities. However, different revitalization and restoration processes can be pursued to lengthen the lifecycle of these buildings; and even if they seem “unfinished” works, they are characterized by expressivity and charm, show particular conservation manners and interesting comparisons between ancient and new buildings uses. Moreover, such refurbishments can be carried on with limited expenses and only time will tell us if they are definitive or temporary solutions. Three case studies are shown in the article: the MUDE museum in Lisbon, a former bank-building; the cultural centre Matadero, inside the former abattoir in Madrid; the upper levels of the Modern and Contemporary Art Regional Museum in Palazzo Belmonte Riso, Palermo.
