The PAX experiment aims at producing polarized antiprotons by spin-filtering of a stored beam by means of a polarized internal target. To pursue this goal a series of dedicated measurements is foreseen with protons at COSY-(FZ-Juelich) and antiprotons at the AD ring (CERN). For this reason, the polarized internal H/D target of the HERMES experiment has been moved to FZJ and updated to fulfill the new experimental conditions. To be compatible with the accelerator requirements of the AD ring, an innovative concept of an openable storage cell has been realized and commissioned. The presentation will consider both the present state of the target and the future plans.

Abstract
The PAX experiment aims at producing polarized antiprotons by spin-filtering of a stored beam by means of a polarized internal target. To pursue this goal a series of dedicated measurements is foreseen with protons at COSY-(FZ-Juelich) and antiprotons at the AD ring (CERN). For this reason, the polarized internal H/D target of the HERMES experiment has been moved to FZJ and updated to fulfill the new experimental conditions. To be compatible with the accelerator requirements of the AD ring, an innovative concept of an openable storage cell has been realized and commissioned. The presentation will consider both the present state of the target and the future plans.I documenti in SFERA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
