The paper delas with the impact of the GFC on Italy, considering the overall situation of the country when the event occurred and the tax ways and means adopted by the Government to overtake it. The author argues that taxation is a fundamental role in this respect but inly insofar changes are made accordingly to the EU law and to the global situation in the mediterranean. In this respect, the fine tuning of some concepts including the notion of permanent establishment would foster the transnational investments and therefore help to increase the GDP. The author also considers that the crisis shall be over only when a comprehensive approach shall be adopted by the Mediterranean states with the implementation of homogeneous fiscal policies.
