Abstract
This paper presents a stability criterion for thin-walled beams of curvilinear section, based on the positive definiteness of the second variation of the potential energy. The internal stresses are derived according to a shell model which incorporates the kinematic restraints of thin-walled beams. In addition to the classical terms of the potential energy, the geometric effects of an applied torque, as well as flexural-extensional and torsional-extensional coupling terms, are accounted for.File in questo prodotto:
