The paper describes one of the most popular methodologies used in Italy to assess the environmental quality of the building stock. The ITACA protocol is a technical tool to estimate the level of sustainability of a residential building measuring its performance in relation to different criteria grouped into categories which refer to different areas of intervention. Mostly tested for new constructions, it can be used also to evaluate refurbishment interventions adding some information, more than energy performance, regarding the overall impact in the building activity such as: quality of the site, resources consumptions, indoor air quality.

Abstract
The paper describes one of the most popular methodologies used in Italy to assess the environmental quality of the building stock. The ITACA protocol is a technical tool to estimate the level of sustainability of a residential building measuring its performance in relation to different criteria grouped into categories which refer to different areas of intervention. Mostly tested for new constructions, it can be used also to evaluate refurbishment interventions adding some information, more than energy performance, regarding the overall impact in the building activity such as: quality of the site, resources consumptions, indoor air quality.I documenti in SFERA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
