Abstract
An analysis is presented for the minimum current requirement of a free-electron laser as a function of wavelength. The current depends strongly on the emittance of the electron beam and the period of the undulator. High-brightness electron beams are a prerequirement for short-wavelength generation. So far photocathodes have by far the best prospectives. An experimental setup of a free-electron laser with semiconductor photocathodes will be discussed.File in questo prodotto:
