Five new human polyomaviruses have been identified since 2008 (MCPyV, HPyV6, HPyV7, HPyV9 and TSPyV). The presence of specific antibodies against these polyomaviruses was investigated by virus-like particle-based ELISAs in 828 Italian subjects aged 1 to 100 years. The findings indicated that all these new polyomaviruses circulate widely in humans with seroprevalence in adulthood ranging from 40 to 90%, and that primary exposure is intensive in childhood with the exception of HPyV7 and HPyV9 for which the infection rate increases throughout life. The proportion of subjects with high antibody levels was found to increase with age for MCPyV and decrease with age for TSPyV.

Abstract
The proportion of subjects with high antibody levels was found to increase with age for MCPyV and decrease with age for TSPyV.I documenti in SFERA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
