Since 2005, the building process has developed from a preliminary stage regarding research activities on environmentally sustainable design, which was often based on subjective rather than scientific criteria, to a more objective and pragmatic on-fi eld experimentation, characterized by measurable and certifi able results. Such research concerns interventions at any level of the architectural fi eld, including historical and listed buildings. The paper aims to investigate suitable strategies to operate also on the wide-ranging historical heritage to demonstrate the immediate feasibility of a widespread refurbishment of more recent buildings, which require even more conventional solutions. Focus has been particularly put in dealing with the transposition of theoretical principles to their project application.

Abstract
Since 2005, the building process has developed from a preliminary stage regarding research activities on environmentally sustainable design, which was often based on subjective rather than scientific criteria, to a more objective and pragmatic on-fi eld experimentation, characterized by measurable and certifi able results. Such research concerns interventions at any level of the architectural fi eld, including historical and listed buildings. The paper aims to investigate suitable strategies to operate also on the wide-ranging historical heritage to demonstrate the immediate feasibility of a widespread refurbishment of more recent buildings, which require even more conventional solutions. Focus has been particularly put in dealing with the transposition of theoretical principles to their project application.I documenti in SFERA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
