After the discovery of the Lavini di Marco dinosaur tracksite near Rovereto, the search for additional tracksites was extended to the whole Lower Jurassic Calcari Grigi Group that extends through the Eastern Southern Alps (Leonardi and Mietto, 2000). These searches lead to the discovery of several ichnosites in an area of about 1,500 square kilometers. Such outcrops differ in the kinds of footprints found, in the frequency of findings (single level or multiple levels inside the same section), in the dimensions of the outcrop (from a slabs of a few square decimeters to kilometer-scale tracksites) and in the degree of ichno-diversity.
