The study of the lithic assemblages from the sites of Podere Riola and Podere Stanga (Ozzano dell’Emilia, Bo) has allowed the reconstruction of the reduction sequences adopted for the production of bladelets during the Castelnovian (Late Mesolithic) in the Bologna area. The introduction of a new knapping technique (indirect percussion and/or pressure) is a distinctive feature of these assemblages in comparison to the preceding phase (Sauveterrian).
