Abstract

Radio Resource Management (RRM) encompasses all the different functionalities whose purpose is the efficient usage and allocation of radio resources for achieving the required Quality of Service (QoS) that is dictated by the applications offered by the wireless system to mobile terminals. One of the critical RRM functionalities pertains to scheduling resources to the different users within the system coverage area. The paper’s objective is to provide an overview of the different categories of the proposed cross-layer solutions and to present results on novel extensions, that either exploit the mobile channel state information or aim to minimize the intercell interference
