The recent developments in electronics and telecommunications , the introductions of MEMS sensors, the wireless connections and the low costs, changed the scenario of consumer electronics and in specific in the video games field. Now it is possible to buy consolles with high graphic performances, wireless connections, internet connections and biofeedback capabilities with a relatively low cost and more over these new devices offer the possibility to enjoy also a real virtual reality experience. In this market one important player is Nintendo with its new Wii consolle. The system is composed by a unit with DVD player, SD memory card reader, wifi internet connection and a series of external devices: the classic controller, the wiimote, the nunchuck and the balance board. Only the classic controller is wired connected, while the others communicate by means of a Bluetooth link. In this paper we will consider mainly the wiimote, nunchuck and balance board controllers, because they can be used as stand alone systems and can emulate traditional mouse and keyboard, offering several opportunities to develop useful applications in the rehabilitation field and in the design of tools for disable people.
