The stability of optical gap solitons is investigated in the framework of the generalized massive Thirring model. The self-phase modulation can induce either oscillatory or nonoscillatory types of instability, the latter mechanism being described by an explicit criterion, and unfolded geometrically to reveal gap soliton multistability, as well as different nonlinear evolution scenarios.

Abstract
The stability of optical gap solitons is investigated in the framework of the generalized massive Thirring model. The self-phase modulation can induce either oscillatory or nonoscillatory types of instability, the latter mechanism being described by an explicit criterion, and unfolded geometrically to reveal gap soliton multistability, as well as different nonlinear evolution scenarios.File in questo prodotto:
