The surfaces and the internal secretory structures of various organs of Smyrnium perfoliatum L. were examined to explore the presence of coumarins by UV-induced autofluorescence. The fresh sections of each organ were then dipped in methanol and the extracts were analysed by HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography) and MS (Mass Spectrometry). 4-methyl-umbelliferone and xanthotoxol were mainly identified and quantified. The greatest quantities of coumarins were found in roots and fruits.

Abstract
The surfaces and the internal secretory structures of various organs of Smyrnium perfoliatum L. were examined to explore the presence of coumarins by UV-induced autofluorescence. The fresh sections of each organ were then dipped in methanol and the extracts were analysed by HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography) and MS (Mass Spectrometry). 4-methyl-umbelliferone and xanthotoxol were mainly identified and quantified. The greatest quantities of coumarins were found in roots and fruits.File in questo prodotto:
