Abstract

Methanolic extract, obtained from Tagetes patula plant, was assayed against Botrytis cinerea, Fusarium moniliforme and Pythium ultimum. The antifungal activity was dose-dependent and proved to be highest when the experiments were conducted in presence of a luminous source. SEM and TEM observations on P.ultimum revealed that Tagetes extract induced alterations on cell fungal membranes with a photoactivation mechanism leading to a premature aging of the mycelium.
