The Diagnsotic Criteria for Psychosomatic Research (DCPR) were compared to a standrad psyhciatric interview (DSM) in146 cancer patients. DCPR were more specific and sesible in detecting psychsocial problems among cancer patients than DSM-IV (71.2% of the cases vs 44.5%, respectively), with three DCPR dimensions emerging as predominant in cancer: health anxiety (37.7%), demoralization (28.8%), alexithymia (26%).
