The complex of Eu with the ligand (tris-(((2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzyl)amino)-ethyl)amine) (H3L) known to form different types of complexes with lanthanides depending on the preparation conditions was prepared. The Eu(H3L)(NO3)3 complex was synthesized and its crystal structure in two different solvation forms was determined. The X ray crystal structure analysis demonstrated the presence of two crystal forms which differ in the solvent content. The coordination is as a tricapped prism, where each of bidentate nitrates is trans to the coordinated phenolic oxygen.
