One of the research topics of the IMI project is the development of a quasi-monochromatic source for mammography applications. Quasi-monochromatic source has been produced via Bragg diffraction on mosaic crystal with a conventional X-ray tube. The system has been characterized in terms of photon flux and exposure rate, capability in low contrast detection, delivered dose and energy resolution properties. Radiographs of test phantoms have been obtained with a conventional screen-film combination.

Abstract
One of the research topics of the IMI project is the development of a quasi-monochromatic source for mammography applications. Quasi-monochromatic source has been produced via Bragg diffraction on mosaic crystal with a conventional X-ray tube. The system has been characterized in terms of photon flux and exposure rate, capability in low contrast detection, delivered dose and energy resolution properties. Radiographs of test phantoms have been obtained with a conventional screen-film combination.File in questo prodotto:
