Abstract
“Drinking sludges” (coagulation sludges and softening sludges) are produced in great quantity and today they can no more be disposed of in rivers and streams as some years ago. It is pressing to find out more economical and useful alternatives to landifill. Some of their chemical and physical characteristics is better than wastewater sludges ones and, alone or mixed with civil wastewater sludges, they can have interesting applications on land as fertilizers, amendents or conditioners. The ambiguous EC and national rules, which slow down the uses of drinking sludges on land, and the current revision phase of EC Directive about land application of sludge, suggest that the new Directive has to take into particular consideration drinking sludges and to clearly state the useful and economical valorization of this important resource.I documenti in SFERA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
