The present paper reports the results of prefilming treatments on pure copper by short, room temperature, immersion in 0.2 mM aqueous solutions of 5-butyl-1,2,3-Benzotriazole, 5-mercapto-1-phenyl-1,2,4-tetrazole or mixtures of the two compounds. Electrochemical measurements were carried out on prefilmed copper specimens in 0.1M solutions of sodium sulphate, nitrate, chloride or perchlorate, at pH 5.3 and 3.4. X-ray diffraction analyses and SEM observations have been carried out in order to characterize the surface corrosion products.

Abstract
The present paper reports the results of prefilming treatments on pure copper by short, room temperature, immersion in 0.2 mM aqueous solutions of 5-butyl-1,2,3-Benzotriazole, 5-mercapto-1-phenyl-1,2,4-tetrazole or mixtures of the two compounds. Electrochemical measurements were carried out on prefilmed copper specimens in 0.1M solutions of sodium sulphate, nitrate, chloride or perchlorate, at pH 5.3 and 3.4. X-ray diffraction analyses and SEM observations have been carried out in order to characterize the surface corrosion products.File in questo prodotto:
