In this paper we use a chaos-based frequency modulation (FM) of the timing control signal to reduce EMI in a current-programmed DC/DC boost converter. We analyze the effectiveness of this technique both by computing the Power Density Spectrum of the inductor current and by experimental results of measurement performed on a prototype. Measures show that the FM parameters and modulating signal can be chosen to greatly enhance the electro-magnetic compliance of the systems with no degradation in the output voltage ripple.
