The chapter deals with some specific issues on the subject of terrorism. After defining the specific nature of terrorism with respect to other forms of social violence, the main conceptions of the phenomenon developed in a psychosocial framework will be discusseed. In line with major studies on the perpetrators of social violence, the last part deals with issues relating to the psychosocial functioning of terrorists. The final part of the chapter will feature reflections on the current state of research and the possible contexts and lines of investigation for the future.
