CIB W70 has conducted the international symposium in every other year since 1990 in order to review evolutions in the related research fields and to provide an overview and insight into current practice, research and thinking in management, maintenance and modernisation of building facilities. In these international symposiums, it is distinct that many technical papers from numerous countries have been contributed in the maintenance technology discussion and development. In the last years, the debate on Technology of Maintenance has tended to widen the borders of this field of research. It requires a new approach to the innovation of technologies to be used for maintenance and modernisation strategies which have to be viewed from a more global perspective. Scanning larger horizons new objectives to be reached in this field of research have to be defined; new materials and advanced technologies that we can use now in the maintenance sector must be investigated and evaluated in the light of new requirements to be satisfied. The paper reviews state-of-the-art in this research field and the research needs for the next millennium mainly based on the papers contributed to the symposiums and related research activities.

Abstract
The paper reviews state-of-the-art in this research field and the research needs for the next millennium mainly based on the papers contributed to the symposiums and related research activities.I documenti in SFERA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
