The paper compares the observed data on association between multiple sclerosis and HLA antigens which were obtained in two Italian populations, northern Italy (Ferrara) and central Sardinia (Barbagia). The data stress the hypothesis of different genetic susceptibility to the disease in two populations which have different socio-economic and genetic conditions.
