The aim of this session is to bring together mathematicians from Italy and Germany working on the broad field of Mathematical Fluid Mechanics. This field has a long history of research in both countries, on the analytical as well as on the engineering side. The topics to be considered do not include only the analysis of the classical Navier-Stokes equations for incompressible viscous fluids, but also of non- Newtonian models, of compressible and of inviscid fluids; moreover, the interaction of fluid flow with elastic boundaries and the analysis of turbulence models will be included. The focus of the talks will be on various questions of regularity and stability for different kinds of fluid flow in bounded and unbounded domains.
