This paper is a contibution to the discussion of the relation between ontology and conceptual analysis in the context of Wittgenstein's and Quine's philosophies. It shows that both philosophers share much more than most interpreters are prepared to grant: nominalism, ontological/grammatical relativity, the method of paraphrase/reformulation. I claim, in particular, that Quine's analysis of the meaning of "exists" and "there is" amounts to an explication of uses of such expressions that are prominent in ordinary language.
