The study indicates the prevalence rates of multiple sclerosis in the socio-sanitary district of Copparo, near Ferrara, northern Italy. The obtained results indicates that the frequency of the disease in this area, and perhaps in Italy, is higher than previously established in the study. Therefore, caution is necessary when the geographic distribution of multiple sclerosis according to gradient of latitude is considered.
