Perforated gastroduodenal ulcer

The complications to perforated ulcers remain one of the most frequent causes of death and disability worldwide. While the incidence and mortality of bleeding ulcers have decreased, The rates of perforated peptic ulcers have largely been unchanged in the past decades. The mini-invasive technique, as in other fields, has been widerly adopted to treat a PPU, because it allows the advantages of laparoscopic surgery. However, even today, the lack of confirmed real advantages of laparoscopy, compared to traditional treatment, have partially limited the spread. Further evaluation and, especially, wider and more numerous trials of quality (RCT) are needed.
