This paper examines different meanings, representations and implications related to the term adultescent, which, in recent years, is often used to characterize the contemporary adult identity, marked by immaturity and lack of autonomy. Despite its analogies with various phenomena and interpretations (e.g. mammismo, Peter Pan Syndrome), it is coming up with original traits that need to be clarified and addressed in educational perspective, beyond prejudice and stereotypes.
