Background. The authors analyzed the efficacy of BFB-EMG in facial palsy rehabilitation. Methods. Twenty patients affected by peripheral facial Bell's palsy underwent to a clinic evaluation with a muscular test in ten muscular districts (score ranging from 0 to 3), a neurophysiological study, a video recording. Treatment with BFB-EMG began at least after five months the onset of palsy; it was oriented to improve facial muscle recruitment and to control synkinesias between orbicular oculi and zygomaticus muscles. Results and conclusion. Results of investigation showed: 1) an efficacy of BFB-EMG in recovery of performance in paralyzed facial muscle; 2) a good voluntary control on synkinesias.
