Rethinking the cities buildings is the first step for a paradigm change on the evolution of the contemporary city in Europe and worldwide, based on sustainable energy, communications and infrastructure. What they can be defined as urban retrofit, that is the way in which you can enter, inside the existing urban form new variations of the city. A new organic relationship between the city and the community that it host, rediscovered balance with nature and the resources available, which passes through a multidisciplinary of knowledge that is the very essence of the architectural design. The contemporary city is the complicated union of an impressive amount of architectural facts in reciprocal competition with each other, where the innovation becomes an importance only because it’s a violation of the rules established, without making a contribution on the real evolution of urban events. Peripheral administrations must reclaim a careful direction of the processes and methods to change the image of the city: a methodology of sustainable regeneration which pass first for the architectural design and then for the technical fact, respectful of the memory but direct to the future.

Ripensare gli edifici delle città rappresenta il primo passo per un cambio di paradigma sull’evoluzione della città contemporanea in Europa e nel mondo, fondato su energia sostenibile, comunicazioni e infrastrutture. Quello che si può definire come retrofit urbano, ovvero al modo in cui è possibile inserire, all’interno di una forma urbana esistente nuove declinazioni della città. Un nuovo rapporto organico tra la città e la comunità che essa ospita, un ritrovato equilibrio con la natura e le risorse disponibili, che passa attraverso una multidisciplinarietà dei saperi che rappresenta l’essenza stessa del progetto architettonico. La città contemporanea è l’unione complicata di un’imponente mole di fatti architettonici in reciproca competizione tra loro, dove la novità diventa un valore solamente perché violazione delle regole costituite, senza apportare un contributo alla reale evoluzione dei fatti urbani. Le amministrazioni periferiche devono riprendersi una regia attenta dei processi e dei metodi atti a modificare l’immagine della città: una metodologia di rigenerazione sostenibile che passi per il progetto architettonico prima e per il fatto tecnico poi, rispettosa della memoria ma diretta al futuro.
