This paper presents a video analysis feature, the plate recognition, implemented by exploiting exclusively open source technologies, and integrated in a video management centre with a centralized architecture. The main novel results of our work are represented by the challenging environment where the algorithm has been applied, consisting on the video camera of the Public Administrations originally deployed for the sake of urban security.

Abstract
