This study aims to achieve some originality about the link between land use for both residential and productive purposes and the role played by some specific local taxes related to the territory, including the urbanization costs. More specifically, in the paper a methodological approach, partially borrowed by ISTAT, has been used in conducting an analysis at the regional level to highlight the possible relationship between the number of building permits issued by municipalities and the corresponding amount of tax revenue established during the period 2000-2010.
