(Hip arthroplasty Registries) - Hip arthroplasty can significantly improve quality of life of patients af- fected by disabling joint conditions, with an estimated 90% survival of the hip device at 10 years. However, the in- creasing number of procedures causes high costs and a growing rate of revision surgery, so that the adoption of post-marketing surveillance is required to monitor the devices and to simplify recall of patients if needed. To pursue this task the implementation of a Hip Arthroplasty Registry is needed, as documented by well-established interna- tional experiences. Abstract

The authors describe the projects currently ongoing in Italy in this research area.
