Since 2004 the Emilia – Romagna Region has created a network of High Technology consisting of industrial research labs and innovation centers, distributed throughout the region. The University of Ferrara, together with all other local universities, participates in the project with four labs. In particular TekneHub deals with the recovery and architectural and urban redevelopment and restoration of Cultural Heritage through the work and competences of five different areas. Area 4 carries out its research in the context of technologies for recovery and preservation of archaeological and palaeontological heritage from field activities to laboratory analysis of materials. The activities have a strong interdisciplinarity and see the integration of different skills and laboratories: topography, palaeoanthropology, technology and use-wear applied to stone tools and bones, palaeobotany, palaeontology, archaeozoology, taphonomy, GIS, etc.
