The spectral actinic irradiance values at latitude 45° N, valid for the average Po valley, are estimated. The reactivity of vinyl chloride and the mechanism of its atmospheric photooxidation are discussed. Generalised plots of the average relative formation rates are utilised as forecast diagrams of first approximation.
