Considering the enhanced global marketplace, the competition issues go beyond every national border all over the world, far from the control of the single national antitrust agencies. Thus, the globalization of the markets shows the urge to reach an harmonization of the worldwide competition policies. The paper investigates the role played by the EU for the antitrust policies coordination in the global market, also concerning the meaningful interactions of EU and US antitrust regulatory systems. In view of the struggling experience of the international and transnational regulatory systems, the contribution depicts two possible solutions: on the one hand, a WTO agreement aiming to define minimum standards for national rules of reason and rules of conduct of jurisdiction, and on the other hand a horizontal control through an international regulatory agencies federalism in the frame of the ICN, according to the European Competion Network model.
