Abstract

In the design of new or refurbished buildings, the implementation of solar passive systems is of particular significance in order to reduce the heating, cooling and lighting demand, with significant energy saving. When applied to new constructions, the design possibilities are unlimited. On the contrary, in the retrofit of an existing building, when it is necessary to respect the overall architectural style, many restrictions arise. The aim of this paper is the comparison of the energy performance between different solar passive elements integrated in an existing building in Ferrara. In order to evaluate energy performance of the solar passive elements the UNI EN ISO 13790:2008 is applied.
