A schwannoma, also known as neurilemmoma, is the most common neurogenic tumor of the thorax1. More than half of all these lesions are intradural extramedullary, 25% are pure extradural, 15% are both intradural and extradural, and very rarely they are seen intramedullary2. This tumor may arise any cranial or peripheral nerve. They are common in paravertebral locations and in flexor regions of the extremities (especially near the elbow, wrist and knee) and occasionally involve the skin. We report a case of a elderly diabetic woman who had a paravertebral schwannoma diagnosed because of a chest radiograph following chest pain.
