In this paper the first results of an experimental research aimed to evaluate the mechanical behaviour of short polymeric fibers reinforced mortars are presented. In the industrial production an extrusion process is usually used, therefore s/c ratio much greater than that quoted in the Engineered Cementitious Composites technical literature [1]‒[10] are employed. Moreover, while the sand's maximum diameter varies between 0.3 and 0.4 mm in ECC literature, in the industrial production sands of diameters until 3 mm is commonly used. The main objective of the research is show that is possible to obtain by means of industrial processes plastic fiber reinforced elements which are lighter and do not require any steel reinforcement In the experimental research, the main parameters influencing the mechanical behaviour of the composite are taken into account: sand/cement ratio, water/cement ratio and the volumetric ratio and characteristics of fibers.
