A large area south of Ferrara has undergone many changes for a series of hydraulic works which have been carried out during the past centuries, as a consequence of town planning regulations and following contemporary works, which all together resulted in the creation of a sort of urban threshold between the old walled town and the urban area extending towards the south in the direction of Bologna. Such a situation urged a group of teachers, researchers and scholars to carry out over few years, learning and research activities aimed at defining all possible changes for the area concerned.
